Saturday 8/15, 10:00 AM-11:00 AM AZ Time: Slow Flow with Bentley Fazi

A slow-paced all-levels yoga class, coordinating breath and movement and accompanied by a creative mix of music.

This style of Yoga helps to develop awareness of core strength and flowing creative movement. Through this flow, the body naturally builds heat, promotes healthy energy flow and creates a sense of lightness and spaciousness in the tissues.

Appropriate for all levels of practice. You will need a yoga mat.

Sunday 8/16, 10:00 AM-11:15 AM AZ Time: Restorative + Sound with Victoria Cudjo

In this restorative yoga class, you won't be focused on building strength but rather on increasing flexibility and encouraging total relaxation. You will experience 5-10 minute, juicy posture holds, lying on the floor or against a wall.

Props (blankets and pillows) are suggested, as each posture is held for an extended amount of time and you will want to reach your maximum level of relaxation in each pose. The class will conclude with a deeply restoring meditation or savasana, which includes the use of vibration through vocal chanting and others soothing sounds.

You will need 2-3 blankets or big towels and 2-4 pillows of the same size and shape. You may use a yoga mat if you have one but it's not necessary.

Sunday 8/16, 5:00 PM-6:00 PM AZ Time: Sleep Meditation with Jennifer Miles

Yoga Nidra is a sleep-based meditation designed to remove mental and emotional disturbance and rejuvenate the body. 45 minutes of Yoga Nidra is as restorative as 3 hours of sleep.

Yoga Nidra is composed of a structured series of breath, body and awareness techniques which progressively drop you into deeper brainwaves where your thoughts effortlessly move further away from you. It is in this gap between the thoughts that you can effortlessly experience restful meditation. The body can deeply heal and rejuvenate, excess mental stimulation ceases and you awaken energized and focused. The more we rest as the silence behind the mind, the less we are disturbed by its unhelpful chatter—even while awake. Like meditation, Yoga Nidra can be used for medical, restorative and spiritual benefits alike to support one’s own goals and intentions.

Appropriate for all levels of practice, no experience necessary.

Setting Up Your Space For Yoga Nidra:

You will want to do this practice in a place without distraction. Please turn OFF all electronics, reduce all lighting to a soft glow, and secure children and pets away from your quiet space. Remove any hats, jewelry, watches or glasses.

What You Will Need:

You may choose to lay on the floor on a yoga mat or sheepskin, or you may want to lay in your bed. You will want to make sure you are extremely comfortable as you will be laying down for an extended period of time. I recommend placing a bolster or pillow under the knees (close to the thighs) and a little padding under the head. You will want to cover your body (at the minimum your torso) with a blanket as your body temperature will drop. Lastly, I would recommend using something to cover your eyes such as an eye pillow (can be purchased on Amazon), as it will certainly help you drop deeper into meditation.

You may also consider using noise canceling headphones or earbuds.
